The words from our long conversation sifted with the weed smoke and her lovely perfume. I loved the way she smelled after she smoked. I never thought I would find someone to match my love of marijuana; that is I never thought I would find somebody who made me feel the euphoric high that she made me feel.
The raindrops pounded melodically against her white sports car and I couldn't take my eyes off of the beauty that sat in the driver's seat. I loved the way her beautiful, green eyes blended with the red effects of Mary Jane. I wanted her more than ever. My earth angel.
I looked outside into the world as the rain beautifully ravaged the outside of our college dorms. For the first time in my life, my hatred toward bad weather dissipated as my longing for her grew in my soul. I shifted in my seat as I felt her greenish brown eyes surveying my body. I couldn't take my eyes off of the beautiful weather that I grew to love like I was growing to love her.
"I always wanted to kiss somebody in the rain." It was a simple statement of a fantasy unfulfilled.
She looked at me with her lowered eyes, eyebrows shifted in surprise. "What!?" Her voice filled with shock, but not a bad shock, more like a delighted surprise. I've never said anything like that in her presence before.
"I always wanted to kiss somebody in the rain." I shrugged my shoulders. I felt it was a normal fantasy, I mean I've seen Spider-Man kiss Mary Jane hanging upside down from a spiderweb. I've seen sight return to the DareDevil for a brief moment when he kissed Elektra. I'm pretty sure others have wished for the same kiss.
She looked at the rain fall on the pavement walkway to her dorm building, each drop adding to the another until the walkway was completely covered with precipitation. I stared at the same rain for an instant and the raindrops seemed to slow along with my own heartbeat. I became trapped in eternity.
Then she turned to me and asked with a simple curiosity, "Why?"
I turned toward and looked at her with wanting eyes. I know my dark brown pupils told her a story of me confessing my undying love for her. My eyes gave away the secrets of my heart as I began to illustrate how much this kiss meant to me. "It's like this, ma. It's a special kiss, ya' know like the movies. Imagine it though." I seen her head turn up in thought, and I hoped that she was picturing my lips on top of hers. "A kiss blessed by the elements. The water is like glue, sealing the love of a couple inside of kiss. With a kiss like that, it's sealed in yo' memory, ya'know. Aint too much mo' beautiful than that, ya heard me."
Her smile always made me smile, but something was different. Her smile was wanting. She turned the ignition off in her car and we watched the raindrops drip down the front window. I stared at the shadows on the dashboard converge together and it made me want to be closer to her. The light from the spotlight attached to my dorm building shone in the car, illuminating her beauty. "Come on." She ushered me out of the car to feel the Heavenly glue hit our faces.
I looked her way and smiled as I seen her sending her angelic smile toward the heavens. The rain created an illusion on her face, making it seem like she cried tears of joy. I knew then that I had to have her. She looked at me with a happiness that poured out of her skin. I called to her with a quick twitch of my finger, and she came. Now it was my turn to drive. My best friend walked toward me a woman, and I figured this was my only chance to let her know how I truly felt and words would not do, not in this ideal situation.
When she came into my arms, it was like the coming of a light entering and offering a warmth to the dark recesses of my soul. Like the sun rise over the Grand Canyon bringing light to obvious peaks and the subtle valleys. As she always had, she placed her head next to my heartbeat. I always wondered what song she heard whenever she listened to my heartbeat, but that question could be answered later. Right now was the time where I would receive the only kiss I've ever fantasized about.
I tilted her head up so that her eyes would meet mine. I read the happiness in her eyes as they lowered. She leaned against me inching closer and closer to my lips. This seemed like the moment I've been waiting for my entire life. Those few seconds felt like eternity, but when our lips touched, the moisture from the rain bonded us together. Two friends who shared a memory, a kiss in the rain.
